RACE RULES & GUIDELINES

 

  1. ALL OF THE DUST N’ BLING RULES AND GENERAL GUIDELINES APPLY

 

  1. PRE-ENTRY DRAW

We will do our best to accommodate NECESSARY special requests.  We will not aid anyone in receiving a select place in the draw or preferred spot on the ground.  We will accommodate for the following reasons; *If a contestant is running multiple horses, we will do our best to give the rider as much of a gap as allows.  The rider can make an alternate request, and if possible, we will accommodate.  *If a rider is traveling with another rider, we will do our best to make sure the riders run within close proximity of each other.  A rider can make an alternate request, and if possible, we will accommodate.  *If the rider needs to run later in the evening, pre-enter, and note on the entry to “draw with the late draws”.  The request will be granted to the best of our ability.

 

  1. CLASS ENTRY

It is the responsibility of the contestant or guardian to register in the correct class/age division.

 

  1. TIME ONLY

A contestant will only be allowed to run as many time only’s as they have paid for.  All time only’s will be given a 60-second max time per run.

 

  1. MAIN RACE FORMAT

The main race is a 4D format with a .5, 1, and 2 second split off of the fast time.

 

  1. INCENTIVE CLASS

Youth is a 3D format with a 1 second split; poles is a 2D format with a 2 second split.

 

  1. SIDE POTS/SPECIAL EVENTS/SERIES

Standard payout for any event is 70%.  However, the payout is subject to change based on special events and incentives.  Any side pots added on are also subject to different payouts and prizes.  Rules are subject to change for specific events.

 

  1. DRESS CODE

Contestant’s appearance must be neat, clean, and professional.  Periodically, other options or Dress Code modifications for certain events will be announced on an individual basis by Dust N’ Bling Productions.

 

  1. HORSE SUBSTITUTION

A contestant may substitute a horse in the barrel race; however, the contestant cannot change draw position.  The substituted horse may not already be entered in the event.  Any horse substitution must be made with the booth officials before the first horse runs.

 

  1. NO SWITCHING OF CONTESTANTS

Contestants switching draw positions on their horse will receive a NO TIME.  If a contestant runs out of turn or falsely uses another contestant’s name, they will receive a NO TIME.

 

  1. SELLING A RUN

Selling a run is NOT allowed.  (Both 10 and 11 can be handled with the booth officials)

 

  1. VET-OUT/MED-OUT/DRAW-OUT

A refund will be granted to all contestants regardless of the reason less a $25 per horse service fee.  Draw-out must be done no later than 2 hours before the race.  If the notice is not given 2 hours prior to start time there will be no refund.

 

  1. TIME LIMIT

If a contestant attempts to enter the arena but is unable to get the horse down the alleyway or chooses to not come when his/her name is called, after the second call, the gate man will give the rider 60 seconds to enter the arena.  At the end of 60 seconds if the horse has not broken the plane at the end of the alleyway into the arena, the rider will be disqualified.

 

 

 

  1. HORSES IN ARENA/ALLEYWAY

Only one horse may be in the arena or alleyway at any time during the competition.  A contestant can have someone assist them into the alley/arena but must immediately exit the alley/arena before the contestant turns the 2st barrel, or the rider will receive a $10 fine. 

 

  1. TIME BEGINS

Any time a contestant crosses the starting line/eye, the time will beginTime will stop when the starting line/eye is crossed again.

 

  1. TRAINING IN THE ARENA

When competing, you cannot go back and redo any part of the pattern that has not been completed if the rider was given a “no time”, either for breaking the pattern or knocking down a barrel.  If a barrel is knocked down you may complete the pattern.  However, booth officials may, at its discretion, ask a rider who is taking excessive time to train to leave the arena immediately.  If the request is not complied with, a $25 fine may be assessed.

 

  1. NO TIME

A “no time” will be given to the contestant for the following reasons: *If the contestant runs out of turn.  It is the contestant’s responsibility to know their draw position.  (Exception: fault of the producer).  *If a barrel is knocked over.  *A “no time” will also be given if a barrel is knocked over and it sets up again on either end.  Touching a barrel, including keeping it from falling, is permitted without penalty.  *If the contestant’s horse or rider falls during the run in such a manner as to break the pattern, or if the rider falls off the horse after passing the eye.  *Unable to get the horse in the arena in the 60-second time limit.  *If a horse stops forward motion.  *Off pattern. 

 

  1. BARREL MOVED

If a barrel is moved off its marker during competition, the barrel must be reset prior to the next run.

 

  1. RE-RUNS

A re-run shall be granted if the official and backup timer fail to work properly, unless a barrel has been knocked over resulting in a no-time.  If the barrels are not placed properly on their markers, a re-run shall also be granted without any penalties; however, any penalty occurring on the re-run shall result in a no-time.  

 

  1. SPORTSMANSHIP

All contestants and their family members are expected to display good sportsmanship at all times.  No level of abuse toward any animal at this event will be tolerated.  Foul language, misconduct, or abusive comments spoken to any contestant, spectator, staff member, or arena personnel will result in an immediate disqualification and no refund of entry fees.

 

 

  1. RETURNED CHECKS

There is a $40 service charge on all returned checks.  If a check is not replaced with a cashier’s check or money order within 30 days after the check is dated, the contestant will be put on the “ineligible” list.

 

  1. DISQUALIFICATIONS

Any act deemed prejudicial to the best interest of Dust N’ Bling Production may result in the disqualification of the contestant, with no refund of entry fees.  These acts may include but are not limited to the following: *Using abusive or intemperate language or attempting to threaten, bribe, influence, or harass any contestant, spectator, staff, or arena personnel.  Also, any remarks made with the intent to cast aspersions on the character or integrity of Dust N’ Bling Productions and management.  *Moving or attempting to move markers at any time.  *Use of electronic and/or remotely controlled devices to alter the outcome of a run.  *Abuse of a horse in any way either on the ground or in the saddle.  *Competing while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  *Misidentifying a horse in any barrel race class.  *Misidentifying a rider in any barrel race class.  *Other conduct that is not in the best interest of Dust N’ Bling Productions or its contestants.  *Failure to make good on returned checks.  *Dust N’ Bling Productions at their sole discretion shall have the authority to disqualify or deny entry to any horse they deem dangerous to the rider, or to other individuals, animals, or property.

 

  1. SAFETY

Safety is the prime objective at this barrel race.  If a rider has a horse that could be dangerous to other contestants or to them self, or other horses, do not come to this barrel race.  The alleyway is considered from the railroad ties to the gate.  The alleyway is to be kept clear at all times during the race.  The contestant may not start their run before the alleyway (railroad ties).

 

  1. CANCELLARIONS AND POSTPONEMENTS

Dust N’ Bling Productions reserves the right to postpone any barrel race due to a natural or manmade disaster.  Any monies collected will be refunded.  If any event is postponed, we will reschedule it for a future date.
